An affidavit is a notarized written statement that is confirmed by an oath or affirmation to be the truth and is used in court for evidentiary purposes. The person submitting the affidavit and swearing to the written statements is called the affiant.
What is an Affidavit of Translation?
An Affidavit of Translation is an affidavit that states that the translation given of a specific document is the true and accurate version of the original text. The person providing the translation, the translator, swears to the accuracy of the translation and must also state the languages they are fluent in. In addition, the translator must also state the name of the document that they have translated and what language it is written in.
The Affidavit must then be notarized.
